"My first wife passed away unexpectedly and threw my entire life into a tailspin," he shared.

Gokey then spoke about his first book and album of the same name. The themes were inspired about the worst points of his life, and speaks of how he made it through.

"I wrote a book recently called 'Hope in Front of Me: Find Purpose in Your Darkest Moments'. The book was so impactful in so many people's lives that we wanted to write an anthem that went along with the book and we titled it the same name and literally it became an anthem."

The singer then offered some encouragement for those who question God's plan, and are left wondering what to do next.

"Sometimes we all fall through storms or rain that we feel like will never end, try to keep the faith but you feel like it's almost a struggle because in the back of your mind your like 'is this really going to work, is God going to come through?' and I can tell you from first hand he has come through," he said.

He continued, "I know you're hanging on and you're hanging on for dear life, but keep holding on because God is not finished writing your story," Gokey said, "There's hope in front of you and even though you're down, you're not dead. You're best days are ahead of you. "

Gokey's album Hope in Front of Me debuted on June 23. The 11-track album features production from award winning producers Bernie Herms (Natalie Grant, Ruben Studdard, Barbara Streisand and Andrea Bocelli) Keith Thomas (Amy Grant, BeBe and CeCe Winans) and Josh Crosby (Cher, Owl City, Adam Lambert, Britt Nicole and Mat Kearney).
