‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 19 Cast News: Is Maksim Chmerkovsky Returning to the Show?

After returning to "Dancing with the Stars' Season 18 after a year-long break, Maksim Chmerkovsky has announced that he won't be coming back to the show again.

In an interview with "The View' last Tuesday, he said, "I'm done dancing." He also mentioned that the time feels right because when he returned to the show, he saw that there was so much talent there from the cast, including his brother Val.

"I thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot," Chmerkovsky added.

The dancer joined "Dancing with the Stars' as a pro partner in Season 2. He had competed every year until Season 15, with the exception of Season 6. However, in 13 seasons he has never won the grand prize. He finished in second place twice, and in third place twice as well. It can be recalled that he left the show in 2012, but made his return for the most recent season.

In Season 18, Chmerkovsky was partnered with Olympic figure skater Meryl Davis. The pair shared an instant connection, and the judges and other pros commented on how Davis seemed to bring out a different side of Chmerkovsky with her precision and skill. The pro dancer is known for his choreography and technical dancing skills. On a side note, the dancing duo was even rumored to be dating.

The pair finished strong"”not only did they receive the best scores from the judges in the entire history of the series, but they also won the elusive Mirror Ball Trophy.

Even though Chmerkovsky won't be back as a partner, there is speculation that he will be back in another capacity on the show, either as a judge or as a consultant.
