'Dallas' Season 4 Canceled: TNT Decides Against Renewing Series

After airing the television drama 'Dallas' for three seasons (since 2012), TNT has now decided to cancel the show. This means that there will be no Season 4 for the TV series that is considered to be one of the best in recent times; on TNT network at least.

However, this does not mean the end for 'Dallas', especially if the show creators can arrange a deal with another network.

Although the series has been very popular and many have been active proponents of the show, there is no doubt that this has been long overdue. In fact, the ratings of 'Dallas' declined significantly from last season, and the show was barely renewed for Season 3 reports Carter Matt.

According to the report, "TNT also had a really strong summer elsewhere, with 'Murder in the First' and 'The Last Ship' becoming big hits and with most other holdovers faring pretty well."

In fact, there is a feeling that the network needs to share some of the responsibility for the poor ratings of 'Dallas' Season 3. This is all the more true considering that the series never really had much of a lead-in all through the third season.

In addition, even though many wanted the show to air in the summer, they certainly did not want it in August and September. 'Dallas' had some stiff competition as it "aired at one point against award shows and at another against the first week of the fall season."

Certainly, the show cannot do well against that kind of competition.

Meanwhile, TNT has issued an official statement explaining why it chose to cancel 'Dallas' for a fourth season.

The release read, "TNT has decided not to renew Dallas. We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show's creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin ... We especially want to thank the people of 'Dallas' for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series."
