'Cosmos' Season 2 Renewal News: Neil deGrasse Tyson in Talks with Producers for Next Series Installment

Last June, Fox network aired the revival of Carl Sagan's popular science series 'Cosmos' with its new host, Neil deGrasse Tyson. While many thought that the updated series revival would be a one season wonder, much like Sagan's original series, new reports have emerged about a 'Cosmos' Season 2.

While the series is not necessarily split up into seasons per se, another set of 'Cosmos' episodes might as well be considered Season 2.

For those that are unfamiliar with the television series, the new Fox reboot version is basically a follow-up to Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos: A Personal Voyage'. The series hosted by Sagan aired in the 1980s on PBS and is considered a milestone for scientific documentaries.

Moving forward to the more recent version of the scientific documentary series, officially entitled 'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey', Neil deGrasse Tyson is evidently set to tackle some more episodes.

The news broke after a user on Reddit attended a presentation by Tyson at NJPAC in Newark, New Jersey, and created a thread about it.

In the post, user Join_You_In_The_Sun said, "During the Q&A portion, he told the audience that he's meeting with producers tomorrow in NYC to discuss the next "season" (for lack of better term) of COSMOS. He didn't go into further detail, but thought this was interesting since up until this point the updated show was just considered a one-off series (ie 13 episodes)."

In regards to what science buffs can expect to see if and when the series returns to the air, some speculation about the topics has recently come to light.

According to Inquisitr, "topics like neuroscience, psychology, archaeology, GMOs" stand a chance to be focal points in 'Cosmos' Season 2. Subjects like these are frontrunners, simply because they were lightly touched upon in the 2014 reboot, so there's still a lot plenty of exciting information and discoveries to showcase.

Beyond that, another idea that has been considered by fans of the series, is that Neil deGrasse Tyson won't be hosting 'Cosmos' Season 2. Some of the other big names in the science world that have been considered for the part include, physicist Michio Kaku, biologist Richard Dawkins, and even Bill Nye the science guy.

However, in light of Neil deGrasse Tyson's recent presentation at the NJPAC, it seems that he will once again command 'Cosmos' in another exciting set of enlightening episodes.
