Reach records artist Tedashii sat down for an interview with Vlad TV and spoke about his thoughts on the Adult Swim comedy, "Black Jesus," and believers on the Internet shared their thoughts as well.

'Black Jesus' has been pegged 'disrespectful,' 'blasphemous' and a 'mockery' by Christians all over social media. The comedy is a half-hour live-action scripted comedy featuring Jesus" living in present-day Compton, Calif. The mock Jesus smokes pot and reportedly sleeps with a prostitute, but his daily mission is to spread "love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers," according to the show's press release.

When informed of the show and questioned on it by Vlad TV; rapper Tedashii said, "I can appreciate people being offended to an extent. If you take someone you love dearly or consider to be some one of high regard and you then you start placing him in moments and situations that don't line up then you go, 'ok this is offensive.'"

He went on to clarify though that because of someone's ability to have artistic license they can take something that is a cultural phenomenon and put a spin on it.

"To me its just funny TV..." he added, "I'm not offended by the dude who plays it and I'm not going 'oh they should cancel.'"

Although on the surface his response seemed to condone the show, he clarified his statement and said, "But the other side of it for me is, who he's playing is a caricature of who Christ is, that's not who Christ was."

He said he does not get as offended as others because he knows the Bible well enough to know that there's a difference between who the actor is playing and who he genuinely believes in.

Tedashii went on to say if the show took a turn and started to promote that it was in fact the way Jesus was, then he would feel like he had to say something.

"At the end of the day it's funny TV," he continued and said that he would check out a few of the episodes.

Christian hip-hop fans chimed in on the Adult Swim show on Rapzilla. One commenter said, "I don't find the show funny at all. It's very offensive... How can any Christian not be offended by this show?" Another added,"God is getting blasphemed left and right. Satan loves that Christians are watching it, calling it ?"harmless humor."
