Christian hip-hop star Lecrae took part in a protest in Atlanta over the results of what happened in Ferguson, Missouri after learning of the Michael Brown vs. Darren Wilson court verdict, and decided to try to be a voice of reason among a population of furious people.

The rapper took to Facebook to express some of his thoughts on the night, and said he was "saddened" by the whole ideal. He has had quite a bit to say over the last few days and was hoping to provide some leadership to a tense situation.

"1. Such a lack of leadership currently for a young idealistic generation who is hurt and angry.

2. I don't hate Police. One officer tonight thanked me for helping quell the crowd and promote peace. But still others treated me like a thug pushing me and screaming at me like a child.

3. The reckless foolishness that hurts the dream of MLK with looting and vandalism.

4. The media coverage of ONLY the juicy violence and vandalism which was minimal tonight."

Lecrae spoke on some of the sentiments people are feeling as far as things going from peaceful to violent in an instant. Many reports are saying parts of Ferguson are like a warzone, with looting and acts of vandalism running rampant. However, as Lecrae stated, that is what much of the media is focused on, even if that is not the overall problem.

He initially weighed in on Facebook Monday night after the news broke. "Sometimes I wonder how we get so up in arms and culturally empathetic with people in other countries. But can't do that in our own backyard," he wrote, "We rushed to Haiti. We Adopt in Asia. We empathize with Africa. But struggle to humanize our struggles here in the states."

Lecrae thinks people are vilified in their anger, and although some are going about it the wrong way, they feel an injustice has been created.

"People are protesting for a reason. Let's not act like people should just get over it. This many people aren't simply misguided. They are hurt and frustrated. Instead of dismissing them, ask yourself why? Why would this many people gather if justice and race are not issues ignored in our country?" wrote Lecrae on his Facebook.

He also previously wrote,"This Ferguson case was a mascot for something much bigger. Something people want to hope for."

Lecrae seem to foretell situations such as this in his song "Welcome to America" off of his last album Anomaly.

This incident has been waiting to boil over since it occured on August 9. The verdict was essentially police officer Darren Wilson against the word of the deceased Michael Brown. Brown was killed when Wilson shot him several times after an incident where the officer said he was attacked by Brown following a robbery.

The most controversial part of the entire case is Brown was an unarmed 18-year-old. Also, Wilson's injuries do not match up to what he claims. The details remain a bit inconsistent, but the jury found Wilson innocent of murder and said he was acting in self defense.
