Christian mom Sonia Morales revealed the current health status of her infant daughter Angela, who is defying all odds and obstacles despite being born with a near fatal birth defect in Providence, Rhode Island.

"She's doing great," said Morales to a reporter, according to a National Right to Life News report. "She's almost 14 pounds, and she's growing well."

Angela was born with the anencephaly disorder, a condition that causes the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. Most babies do not typically survive for long after birth.

"Everything she's doing they [the doctors] said she wouldn't be able to do," said Morales.

"She smiles when we talk to her, and she's responding to our voices and our love. She's starting to crawl, and she can scoot three feet. She cries when she's hungry, and lets us know what she doesn't like. She loves to be touched, and she loves kisses. We were prepared for the worst, but God had other plans."

Sonia's soon-to-be six-month old child is expected to reach that milestone on September 23, after doctors originally told Mrs. Morales that she would most likely have miscarriage or her baby would die within hours or days after childbirth.

Morales also talked about her critics who wanted her to abort her child when she was pregnant, because they felt she should not bring a child into this world with a birth defect.

"Their defense was that the child won't have a full life," said Morales.

"But what guarantee do you have? Some people have everything in life and they are miserable. Angela is not suffering. She's full of love, and where there is love, there is life. I responded back that I had the baby because of pure love. Mercy is loving someone with their imperfections. No one is perfect. We just need to love them despite their imperfections, and give them the best life possible."

Morales also revealed why her pro-life message is so important in the world today, after there has been reportedly at least 56 million abortions that occurred since Roe vs. Wade (Supreme Court) decision in 1973, according to a Life News report in January 2014.

"I want to share our story so we can try to save other babies. Maybe by hearing Angela's story, they will choose life instead of abortion. Life is sacred, from inception to natural death," said Morales, according to a National Right to Life News report.

"Because of Angela, we are more thankful to God. We don't have any regrets. We are not living in fear; we are just living by faith. Always trust in God because miracles can happen."
