Christian Man Falsely Arrested For Rape Thanks God After Spending 12 Years in a Texas Prison (VIDEO)

Michael Phillips recently thanked The Lord after he was released from a Texas Prison after he spent 12 years behind bars because he was falsely arrested for rape in 2002.

"It was only my Father God that got me through this. That's all I got to say," said Phillips on July 25 after he was acquitted of the heinous crime, according to Charisma News, "That speaks for itself. Pick up His book, it's truthful ... [the Bible will] see you through anything."

Phillip was wrongly accused of raping a then 16-year-old girl inside in a motel 24 years ago, but thanks to new DNA evidence his name was cleared.

As a result, the identity of the rapist has now identified as Lee Marvin Banks, a man who was living in the same motel at the same time as the victim and Phillips.

"The actual culprit ... was identified through the DNA testing but cannot be prosecuted because the statute of limitations has expired," said officials.

Unfortunately, the victim identified Phillips in a lineup as the criminal responsible instead of Banks, which led to his false arrest many years ago.

"This is a great day for Mr. Phillips but a terrible day for our justice system," said Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins, according to CBS News.

Now Phillips is a free man, and the 57-year-old man gave God all the glory and all the praise after his name was cleared of all wrongdoing.

"I never imagined I would live to see my name cleared," said Phillips, "Six of my siblings died from the same disease (sickle-cell anemia), so I thank God for sustaining me in prison. I always told everyone I was innocent, and now people will finally believe me."
