Chris Tomlin's 'Burning Lights' Earns Him Top Christian Artist at 2014 Billboard Awards; Singer Shines Light for Christ Among Secular Music's Best

Chris Tomlin was among the few Christian artists representing music last night at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards as he took home Top Christian Artist.

The worship singer was nominated for three Billboard Awards, Top Artist, Top Song, and Top Album. He previously won a Billboard Award in 2011.

Tomlin had a great 2013 with his smash album Burning Lights, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard charts last year. Hit single "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)" reached as high as No. 1 on the Christian charts, and was No. 1 on Heatseekers.

Burning Lights won Top Praise and Worship Album at the 44th Dove Awards as well, and Tomlin is nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Worship Song of the Year "(God's Great Dance Floor)," and Artist of the Year at the K-LOVE Fan Awards.

Tomlin has nine albums, 12 No. 1 radio singles, a GRAMMY Award and eight additional nominations, five Billboard Music Awards, 21 Dove Awards, a platinum and four gold albums in his career.

He recently returned from Passion's Spring 2014 Global Tour, playing before tens of thousands during stops in Abu Dhabi, Hyderabad, Delhi, Singapore and Honolulu. In April sixstepsrecords released "Waterfall," the first radio single from Tomlin's anticipated fall 2014 release.

On April 29, Passion: Take It All released, and featured music by Tomlin, Matt Redman, Crowder, Christy Nockels, and Kristian Stanfill. The project is following the continued success of last year's Passion: Let The Future Begin, which debuted at No. 1 atop Christian SoundScan and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Passion: Take It All was recorded live in Atlanta and Houston earlier this year at Passion 2014, a two-day gathering in both cities attended over 35,000 students representing 46 countries and more than 1,200 universities.
