Captain America 3 and Batman vs Superman Movie Compete: Release Date Rumors Claim Premieres Will Hit In Same Month

Rumor has it that Marvel's Captain America 3 and DC's Batman vs Superman will both be released in the same month, the premiere for Captain America 3 is already confirmed for May 6, 2016, but there is no specific word yet on Batman vs Superman.

The two super blockbuster movies will most likely be in direct competition with each other. Despite the obvious conflict, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told SlashFilm, "DC's Batman vs. Superman scheduling itself on the same date Marvel had already picked in May 2016, would not prompt Marvel into making any changes. At the time, Feige wouldn't say what film that would be, but with buzz about Captain America: The Winter Solider so solid, it tracking for a near $100 million opening weekend and Joe and Anthony Russo already confirmed to direct, Captain America 3 is the furthest along of the rumoured 2016 Marvel movies. It taking that spot make sense," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Forbes Contributor Scott Mendelson now says that DC's movie should move the release date to April 2016.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has more to lose than Captain America 3, especially if that Comic Con release date slate that Nikki Finke dropped turns out to be true. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice a month before Captain America 3 can avoid any immediate negative perceptions right out of the gate because it has only itself to compare to. It won't be expected to break any records beyond "biggest April debut" so it can spin as a win anything over $100 million into a month of relatively competition-free play. The Batman/Superman team-up film can fly or fall on its own terms," he said to the the Epoch Times.

Marvel's patriotic Captain franchise still has a long way to go, but fans are already looking forward to seeing Captain Rogers and his epic adventures on the big screen.
