The two themes of tonight's episode of American Idol are "Year You Were Born" [choose a song from the year your were born...dug] and "Divas" [choose a song from divas in the music business, past and present.

Candice Glover is first to perform a song from the year she was born, 1989. She chooses the sultry Paula Abdul number, "Straight Up." She kicks the Top 5 episode off with funk, soul and an incredible voice.

Keith Urban told Glover, "her vocals are incredible," comparing Candice's effortlessness to "a wink from across the bar" and told her she "really sets the bar for the rest of the girls."

Nicki Minaj congratulated Glover on making it to the Top 5 after not even making it past auditions last year.

Randy Travis shouted out former American Idol judge Paula Abdul for the smash hit and praised Candice Glover's stage prowess.

Mariah Carey said the song choice was "genius," and loved how she put the "Candice on it."

After the judges made their comments Glover revealed fellow Idol wannabe Janelle Arthur encouraged her to sing the Paula Abdul song.

Janelle Arthur's up next with her performance of Vince Gill's "When I Call Your Name."

Nicki Minaj commented how comfortable Janelle Arthur seems with the guitar and called her vocals, "pretty and angelic."

Randy, who loves Vince Gill, said the performance really brought Janelle back into the competition by staying honest.

Mariah told Arthur to "keep her confidence" and warned her to not let the negativity get her down.

Keith Urban was the only who "didn't feel it." Urban said he loves the song and that Janelle was pitch perfect but didn't connect emotionally.
