Brad Pitt Views Religion as 'People's Opium' & 'Marxist'; Actor Trades Christian Upbringing for 'Unnamed Spiritually' [VIDEO]

During a recent promotional interview 'Fury' cast mate Shia LaBeouf reveald that Brad Pitt no longer identifies with Christianity or religion.

"Brad comes from a hyper-religious, very deeply Christian, Bible Belt life, and he rejected it and moved toward an unnamed spirituality," LeBeouf told Interview Magazine,

"He looked at religion like the people's opium, almost like a Marxist view on religion."

Pitt was raised a conservative Southern Baptist, and in the past he told People that he would go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit. According to LaBeouf he now says it is like Opium. The drug if smoked causes a short-term high that includes relaxation, pain relief, reduced anxiety and impaired alertness and coordination.

Pitt's unbelief however led LaBeouf to a faith in Christ. The young actor said that he once identified as a Jew but has now become a "Christian man." He admitted that Pitt and Fury director/writer David Ayers who is a "full subscriber to Christianity," both helped him get to the same conclusion.

"These two diametrically opposed positions both lead to the same spot, and I really looked up to both men. It was nice to have conversations with Brad about the family he came from and what he was using to get through the day," LaBeouf went on to say.

In the past Pitt admitted that he was probably "20 percent atheist and 80 percent agnostic." Watch the video below of Pitt talk to Bill Maher about religion:
