Bourne 5 Movie Release Date: New Title 'Jason Bourne' Announced In Super Bowl Trailer? [WATCH]

On Feb. 7, fans have seen the new trailer of Paul Greengrass' upcoming action thriller film, "Bourne 5," at the Super Bowl, with its new title, "Jason Bourne."

The trailer starts with the logo clip of Universal Pictures and opens with a brawl between two men, one of which is Matt Damon's Jason Bourne. It is noted that the crowd are cheering for their bet.

The next sequence featured a commotion in the city. Fans see people hurting people, as well as flames in the area. A scene followed featuring Damon's Bourne running speedily on a motorycle and it is noted that he is carrying a gun, which he shoots mercilessly.

The trailer's next sequence sees Ato Essandoh's character as he reveals that the man who is captured by the CCTV cameras and is involved with the commotion is Bourne.

It is also revealed in the "Jason Bourne" Super Bowl trailer that Bourne has come back, revealing that he knew who he was and he remembered everything, as evidenced by Bourne seeing his files on a computer. His statement is countered by Julia Stiles' Nicky Parsons, saying that just because he remembered everything did not mean he knew everything. Succeeding sequences see brawls, gun shots, explosions, and car crashes.

The film concluded with Bourne taking down another foe and it looks like that he is the weapon the world needs.

According to Cinema Blend, the title of the fifth "Bourne" film is "Jason Borne" because the creative team chose not to include a "fancy" noun along with it and just keep it simple. As per the publication, the title is much easier to relate with other action thriller films like "Jack Reacher" or "Jack Ryan."

Another reason behind the title twist is that the creative team will be able to keep a distance from the spinoff and breathe life to the "Bourne" franchise, which has been existent since 2001. This suggests that if a sixth film installment comes, they could just add a subtitle to "Jason Bourne," instead of naming it "Jason Bourne 2."

"Jason Bourne" serves as the fifth film installment in the "Bourne" film series and acts as the sequel to the 2007 film "The Bourne Ultimatum."

With Greengrass at the helm of the film, Damon and "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum" writer Christopher Rouse are on board to pen the film screenplay.

"Jason Bourne" is set to hit theaters in the United States on July 29.
