"The Bible" Mini-Series Nominated for 3 Emmy Awards for 2013 

 

"The Bible" Mini-series that took cable television by storm in the spring, setting ratings records for The History Channel keeps making news today. 

The popular Mini-series has been nominated for 3 Emmy Awards including "Outstanding Miniseries or Movie", "Outstanding Mixing For a Miniseries or a Movie" and "Outstanding Sound Editing For a Miniseries, Movie or a Special."

The Emmy Awards are September 22nd at 8pm EST on CBS. 

The 5-part series told an overview of the bible, highlighting specific stories throughout with amazing cinematography and great acting. 

"The Bible" series will be adapted into a big screen movie that will hit select theaters, no date is released yet. It will be just under three hours long. 

"The Bible" series follow up is also already in the works with NBC and will called "A.D. Beyond the Bible", no official air date is set yet. 

"What incredible news to wake up to, couldn't be happier," Burnett told The Hollywood Reporter by phone from Colorado. "A lot of people said The Bible wouldn't do well on TV and wasn't expected to get nominated," Burnett said. "Roma said from the beginning, 'I feel this is going to get nominated, I really feel that our academy will recognize the work.' Four years of work that went into making this as big as it was and we're grateful."

Burnett screened the forthcoming film version of The Bible, titled Son of God, on Wednesday night in Colorado Springs for an audience including billionaire Philip Anschutz, owner of AEG, in attendance. 

FX's gothic miniseries "American Horror Story: Asylum" led with 17 Emmy nominations, HBO's "Game of Thrones" came in second with 16 nominations.
