Benham Brothers HGTV Show Canceled After Expressing Christian Views on Homosexuality, Abortion

The HGTV network has canceled the upcoming debut of "Flip It Forward," a new TV show, after discovering the stars - twin brothers David and Jason Benham - had previously expressed Christian views on various divisive topics such as abortion and homosexuality.

The brothers addressed the issue in an interview on Thursday about the controversy surrounding the cancellation of their home improvement reality show that was originally slated to debut this October.

"We love all people. I love homosexuals. I love Islam, Muslims, and my brother and I would never discriminate. Never have we - never would we," said David to CNN reporter Erin Burnett on Thursday. "Never have I ever spoken against homosexuals, as individuals, and gone against them. I speak about an agenda. And that's really what the point of this is - is that there is an agenda that is seeking to silence the voices of men and women of faith."

The Benham brothers surprisingly are not angry at the network for terminating their reality show despite the fact HGTV never explained why they canceled the proposed reality series.

"We actually felt really bad for HG that they were pushed into this position. They simply said that we need to part ways," said Jason. "Our heart breaks for HGTV ... that the same thing that happens all the time when one view is able to be put out there, but then if you represent what we believe would be the pro-family view, you're not allowed to have that anymore."

The brothers suspect the source of the backlash stems from the Right-Wing Watch website running a story on Wednesday slamming the Benham's religious views on liberal issues.

"We don't realize that, okay, if 87 percent of Americans are Christians and yet we have abortion on demand, we have no-fault divorce, we have pornography and perversion, we have a homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation, we have adultery," said David to Christian talk show host Janet Mefferd in a radio interview after the Charlotte 7:14 prayer event two years ago, according to the Right-Wing Watch article. "We even have allowed demonic ideologies to take our universities and our public school systems while the church sits silent and just builds big churches."

Flip Benham issued a statement in an interview regarding the firing of his sons show because of their Christian views regarding homosexuality.

"There's no one who dares oppose them, No corporation would dare stand up to this juggernaut of the homosexual agenda." said Flip to LifeSiteNews. "I think of my sons, who have to suffer for the fact that their dad speaks up about the Gospel of Jesus Christ... Homosexuality is not a good thing. It destroys those who practice it and nations that approve of it."

Flip further expressed his views on the subject of homosexuality.

"It's not that we hate them. It's that we love them enough to tell them the truth and point them to Jesus, who sets them free," said Flip.
