'Beauty And The Beast' 2017 Movie: Emma Watson Leaks Belle, Not Maurice, Is The Inventor In New Adaptation

The live-action adaptation of Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast" will be out in a few months and everyone is raving about it.

"Beauty and the Beast" was adapted several times in almost all forms in the past--animated series, musical, film, TV show. In the upcoming film, "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson will play Belle, while "Downtown Abbeys" star Dan Stevens will play the Beast.

In a recent interview, Emma Watson revealed that she had seen the animated version of the Disney classic more times than she could count. "I can't even think how many times I watched it as a child. I knew all the words by heart. I knew all the songs by heart," she said.

Reports say that the story of the upcoming film will be different from the previous versions, though it will still follow the story of Belle and the Beast. According to reports, the two will cross paths when Belle, a smart and independent young woman, looks for her father Maurice, who got lost in the woods and ended up inside the castle of the Beast. As in the original story, Beast is a prince who was cursed by an old woman for his arrogance. His romantic storyline with Belle starts when Belle offers to be detained instead of her father.

Watson revealed that in the upcoming adaptation, Belle, not Maurice, is the inventor. "I was like, 'Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn't fit in, other than she liked books,'" she shared.

"Beauty and the Beast" is set to hit theaters on March 17, 2017.
