'Avatar' 2, 3, 4 Release Date News: Three Films Will Premiere Between 2016 and 2018

After the success of the 2009 movie 'Avatar', everyone is now waiting for its sequel. However, there will not be just one sequel, but a series of three - Avatar 2, 3, and 4 are all in the works.

It is understood that all the three 'Avatar' sequels will be filmed simultaneously. The tentative release of the first sequel will be in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017, and the third a year later.

All the three 'Avatar' films will be produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau through Lightstorm Entertainment and, as was done earlier in the original film, Lightstorm will work with Joe Letteri and his team at WETA Digital to create the worlds of 'Avatar'.

As James Cameron has admitted to ComingSoon, one of the reasons for delay in production was the fine-tuning process on the three scripts by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.

Additionally, iBTimes reports that 60-year-old seasoned director James Cameron, let out a few secrets in regards to what fans can expect to see in the sequels.

Cameron is undoubtedly the master of the American blockbuster and his first 'Avatar' had grossed over $2.7 billion worldwide. That was greater than what he got through 'Titanic' - another one of his blockbusters.

The Academy Award-winning director was one of the first to introduce 3D filming which, through use of special cameras designed to shoot in 3D, could add a level of depth to his film, something that was totally new at the time.

Moreover, on the policy of making all the three sequels together he explained that it is a sort of conjoined production so as to benefit economically.
