Despite the hype surrounding "Attack on Titan" season 2, recent reports seem to indicate that the initial announcement of an early 2016 release will not be happened.  

Creators of the "Attack on Titan" anime series are pushing back the production for the second season until its original source material is over, as they find the completion of manga necessary in ensuring that the series will not diverge from the original plot.

Postponement of the production will continue until the manga series is already at least four story arcs ahead.

The deferment is also meant to pass up the addition of superfluous fillers in the series, which will save the studios from negative criticisms that previous "Attack on Titan" live-action films fell victims to.

While "Attack on Titan" Japanese director Tetsuro Araki intends to stick to the content of its manga counterpart by Hajime Isayama, he will place the anime adaptation at the back burner until the two story arcs that still lack in the original source are finished.

It was previously reported that the manga policy necessitates at least four story arcs per season.

In earlier reports, it was also disclosed that the four story arcs may already be the final story arc for "Attack on Titan." This means that the end of the second season will mark the end of the series. However, this decision may still be reversed should the creators choose to dig deeper into the story by tackling the past for a third season.

The first season of the series covered 34 chapters, including four story arcs.

 "Attack on Titan" season 2 will revolve around the story of 104^th Trainees Squad as they wage war against the Titans. It will also reveal the reason behind Eren's Titan-like capabilities.
