'Assassin's Creed' Movie Release Date News: Film to Air Dec. 21, 2016

New reports are claiming that the popular video game franchise, 'Assassin's Creed', has a movie coming out which has already been pegged with an official release date. 'Assassin's Creed', which is owned by 20th Century Fox, is slated to premiere on December 21st, 2016.

The movie is going to portray the action-packed video game with Michael Fassbender playing the leading role. However, it is still not known which characters the film will focus on. It could be a story that documents the events of Ezio, Altair, or some other character.

Perhaps a new set of characters will be introduced in the film version of the video game. Either way, Fassbender is no stranger to live-action movies; he played Magneto in the newest 'X-Men'' movie.

Unfortunately, films based on video games have not always fared very well in theaters, yet fans of the franchise are enthusiastic about the 'Assassin's Creed' movie, especially now that a release date has been announced.

The film is being directed by Justin Kurzel and besides Fassbender, details about the rest of the cast have been under wraps. For fans who need to get their fix of the video game in movie format, an online live action short film based on 'Assassin's Creed' is now available and looks promising.

According to IMDB, the storyline of the 'Assassin's Creed' movie will revolve around the character Michael Lynch, who has been convicted of some crime and gets contacted by a company named "Abstergo." He then joins up and is enlisted with the duty of probing his distant relative's mind to help recover a valuable relic from the past.
