Android Lollipop 5.0 Update on Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4, Note 3: Devices Receive Google OS

Google's Android Lollipop 5.0 update has now reached a number of Samsung devices after being exclusive on Nexus and Motorola smartphones.

The devices receiving the update will be the Samsung's Galaxy S5, S4, Note 4 and Note 3, all available for download straight from the user's phone.

There has also been rumor that other phone carrier versions will receive the update.

"Although Samsung has yet to confirm this rumor, even U.S. carrier versions for AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular are expected to receive the update in addition to those purchased as carrier-less versions. Both devices are expected to skip November's 5.0 iteration and go straight to 5.0.1, which fixes many of the launch-day bugs that were introduced with 5.0.," writes the Gospel Herald.

Samsung tablets will be next confirmed Samsung devices to receive the update. The Lollipop 5.0.2 update is expected to fix many of the bugs the 5.0 version had.

"The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update was released late in December and is intended to deliver a number of crucial fixes that address serious Android 5.0 bugs that range from random crashes, Wi-Fi issues, and poor battery life. Now, a version of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop custom ROM is available via CyanogenMod 12 nightly," writes Latin Times.

A spokesperson for CyanogenMod posted this on the group's website:

"We would like to note that at this point we consider ourselves 85% complete for our initial CM12 M release. We'll spend the remainder of this month bringing up additional devices and finishing up the features you've come to love from CM11 - implementing them into the new Material UI."

Despite these statements, the CyanogenMod 12 nightly builds will be available for download.

Latin Times has provided a tutorial on how to download the custom ROM for the Samsung S5 LTE. However this is at the user's own risk as there are possible untested bugs and broken features.
