Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Sony Xperia Z3 Release Date: Z Series To Get New OS in 2015

Sony Xperia Z3 and the rest of the Z series devices won't be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update until the beginning of 2015.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade started getting rolled out to Nexus devices on Monday, but there are no specific release dates for the Sony Xperia Z series devices yet.

As soon as the update becomes available, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 series will get it first before it will be rolled out to other Xperia Z series devices.

"We've been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our Z Series devices as we can, as quickly as we can," Sony company said.

On Tuesday Sony announced an Android 4.4.4 update for the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, according to The Epoch Times.

The update is also available for PlayStation 4 Remote Play. It allows users to use their devices as a remote screen and use Hi-Red Audio to allow better music quality.

The Android 4.4.4 update includes smart screen rotation. It also includes a Record Screen tool that allows users to record a video of what they're watching on the screen.

Meanwhile, Sony released a teaser video that promises the new Android 5.0 Lollipop to select Xperia Z series devices.

The video is funny and shows a human hand trying to take out an Xperia Z series smartphone with red colored lollipop wallpaper from a large bowl.

The lollipop has an Android-bot head shape, then a monster hand snatches the phone back to the container, according to International Business Times.

The devices set to get the update are as follows:

Xperia Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia Z2.
