‘American Idol’ Season 14 Release Date, Sneak Peek: Returns January 7 & 8 [VIDEO]

Even though 'American Idol' Season 14 is set to hit to the air on January 7 and 8, the singing competition decided to hold an advanced screening ahead of time, showing the first three hours of the new season.

Radio host Rodney Ho from AJC was able to watch the first three hours of the show's 14th season, covering the premiere episodes, and noted several changes to the singing show's format.

The show will be showing a sneak peek of the contestants' audition process, starting from their first audition with the producers until they see the judges, as well as a look at the crew and producers who are interviewing the crowd.

Hashtags are now available for viewers, such as #TurnUpForIdol, and the producers are now more lax in allowing instrumental accompaniment, with one contestant even playing the piano. The judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., were also seen during the audition process, praising and critiquing the contestants and joking around.

Fans will also get to see 'American Idol' alums during the second hour of the show, showing Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Phillip Phillips and more.

To further amp up anticipation, the show has also been uploading new teaser videos on its official YouTube channel for "Season XIV."

One teaser shows host Ryan Seacrest with an almost reveal of the season's top 24 contestants, while another showed Urban jokingly quitting the show and the judges chatting. There are even videos of "Fanboys" and "Girlfriends" to amuse viewers.

A video was even uploaded of the audition of Riley Bria, who may or may not be one of the show's contestants and a possible top 24 contender.

For now though, fans and interested viewers can mark their calendars for the return of 'American Idol' with a two-night, three-hour premiere on Jan. 7 and 8 at 8/7c on Fox.
