‘American Idol’ Season 14 Auditions In NYC Feature Adam Lambert: Queen Vocalist to Judge

The Queen vocalist Adam Lambert will be back on 'American Idol' as a guest judge in the Season 14 auditions in New York.

On Monday, it was announced on the official Twitter account of 'American Idol', that the runner-up of the show's eighth season would be a guest judge for the upcoming auditions.

"Adam Lambert will be serving as guest judge at the NY auditions. Our thoughts are with Keith and his family during this difficult time," read the statement.

Lambert will be filling in for Keith Urban, who is mourning with his wife Nicole Kidman after she lost her father, Dr. Antony Kidman, recently.

The 32-year-old singer will join two other 'American Idol' judges, Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.

Lambert will be a judge for the callback auditions that will take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17.

After the callback auditions for New York, the 'American Idol' team will be conducting call back auditions at the Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis on Sept. 22 and Sept. 23.

As of now, it is unclear whether Lambert will fill in for Urban during the subsequent auditions, but it seems that Urban will be back as soon as the mourning period is over.

Meanwhile, it may not be a problem for Lambert if he wants extend his judging stint, since the singer had previously expressed his desire to be a judge on the show.

"I would love to...," Lambert told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if he would be willing to be an 'American Idol' judge.

The singer even commented to some reporters, "If they called me to judge, 'I'd say 'Where do I sign?'."

The 14th season of 'American Idol' is slated to air sometime in January 2015.
