American Idol Alum React to Show's Cancellation; Christian Stars Who Got Their Start on the Show Say Goodbye [SEE HERE]

American Idol

'American Idol' introduced the world to some of the biggest stars today, including Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Jennifer Hudson and the same goes for the Christian music community. Mandisa, Danny Gokey, Colton Dixon and more can accredit the hit show for their start. See what some of them had to say upon hearing of its cancellation.

Mandisa took to Facebook with a throw back photo of herself and fellow season 5 contestants with president Bush. She wrote, "Earlier this week I got the news that next season of American Idol will be its last. Several articles mentioned that ratings had been slipping since the series high of 31 million in 2006 (season 5 representin'!) This article had a picture of my fellow finalists/tour mates with the president, and it brings back so many great memories!"

"I know it was time, but I'm sad to see it go, and nothing but thankful for the amazing platform it gave me! Wouldn't it be great if they brought back all of the finalists from the 15 seasons back for the grand finale next year? I'll let you know if I get a call!" she added.

Popular A.I. contestant Colton Dixon told Billboard, "I think idol paved the way for so many. I am forever grateful for the opportunities it provided for me and the experiences I've had because of it. I'm honored to be part of an amazing legacy and can't wait to see what the final season has in store."

Season 8 contestant Danny Gokey hosted an American Idol finale celebration with 100 Huntley for this past season and the former finalist had nothing but kind things to say upon hearing of the Fox network cancelation. "A.I. changed so many lives, but for me it gave me the ability to dream & hope through one of my darkest moments. I salute you ?@AmericanIdol" he tweeted.

Gokey later on added, "They should bring back the original judges ?@SimonCowell ?@PaulaAbdul and ?@YO_randyjackson for the last season of ?@AmericanIdol. ?#justsaying"

Newcomer and Save the City Records artist Jeremy Rosado also got his start on American Idol and is now devoting his time to recording his first Christian record. The season 11 contestant took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the end of A.I. "This show changed my life... So sad to see it end. Thank you @foxtv @americanidol @nigellythgoe ?#"ŽFreemantle & #19 for giving me such a life changing experience!"

Another popular Christian A.I. Alum Jason Castro, has stayed mum about the shows cancellation. Castro got his start on the popular show and has gone on to achieve amazing things in the Christian world.

A.I. was created by Simon Fuller and began airing on Fox in June of 2002. It will end next year with its final installment, season 15.

Although it is an end to a pop culture era, one could only hope that shows such as 'American Idol', 'The Voice', or 'America's Got Talent' will carry that mantle and continue to introduce us to great Christian talent.
