Amanda Knox Latest News 2014: Knox Hired as Freelance Writer, Murder Trial is Ongoing

Amanda Knox is currently working as a freelance writer while she awaits her appeal for her latest murder conviction to take place. Knox is an American student who then studied as an exchange student in Italy. She was initially found guilty for the 2007 killing of her British flatmate, Meredith Kercher, and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.

Kercher of Coulsdon, London was a student of Leeds University. Her throat was cut in an apartment she shared with Knox and other flatmates in November 2007, in Perugia, a northern Italian city. Found sexually attacked, her semi-naked body was stabbed to death in her bedroom.

On December 5, 2009, Amanda Knox and then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted and imprisoned. However, in October 2011, their convictions were overturned on an appeal, and Knox was able to return to the United States.

But the not guilty determination was challenged by prosecutors and a new trial was set by an Italian court in March 2013. Both Knox and her former boyfriend maintained their claims of innocence. Both have continually claimed that the prosecutors are out to get them, with various leaks taking place to publicly discredit their characters, as well as claims by Knox of verbal and physical abuse by police officers to force her to confess guilt.

In January 2014, both Knox and Sollecito were convicted again and the former was sentenced to 28 and a half years behind bars. She did not attend the Florence trial and opted to stay in her hometown in Seattle. After the verdict, they appealed the decision once again.

In September, reports claimed that Knox's lawyers threatened to sue the BBC over a film about Kercher's murder.

Based on the Barbie Latza Nadeau authored book, entitled 'Angel Face', the film stars Cara Delevingne and Kate Beckinsale. However, the Knox's lawyers were concerned that if the movie portrayed their client in a bad light that could sway potential jurors and judges.

Beyond that, Amanda Knox has since landed a freelance writing job while her murder trial is ongoing with a newspaper in their locality. The West Seattle Herald hired Knox for her interesting stories and theater reviews.

Her boss, Mr. Robinson, has said Knox is highly qualified and is a very capable writer. She studied creative writing in 2007 when she was in Perugia. She has penned about 10 stories, and even reviews for productions like 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead'.

Her recent article was in West Seattle Herald on October 29. She also wrote about an article to fund an organic cashew milk business of a local couple. At first, she used a pseudonym, but recently has used her real name.
