Actress Stacey Dash Defends 'Moms' Night Out' Movie Attacked by Liberal Critics, Calling it 'Sexiest' and 'Unrelatable'

It is not often when stars in Hollywood come against the mainstream media to defend a message of family and faith, but "Clueless" actress Stacey Dash felt the need to speak up against the harsh movie reviews "Moms' Night Out" received from critics.

Despite the film's heartwarming message to appreciate the mothers in your life and the outstanding fan reviews it received on Rotten Tomatoes and ratings on Internet Movie Database, critics pegged the film "sexist" and "unrelatable."

"Mainly, you have to wonder why [main character] Allyson doesn't just hire a nanny, find a job and get out of the house"¦Ah, but this is a Christian movie, and once it stops pelting an audience with comic incident, it begins preaching," wrote a reporter on Twitchy.com.

Christy Lemire of RogerEbert.com also condemned the film, saying that it "peddles archaic notions of gender roles in the name of wacky laughs." Adding, "The ultimate message here is unmistakable, regardless of your religious beliefs: A woman's place is in the home, not out on the town."

Apparently Dash did not agree and had to voice her opinion. The actress tweeted a couple of comments concerning the critics.

The movie's director, Jon Erwin stated he believes the negative reviews came from critics not being able to understand a Christian audience.

"[My brother and I] are trying to represent a group of people to Hollywood that they don't understand," he reportedly said.

He told TheBlaze.com that audiences have raved about the film's faith and family-friendly message and has received nothing but positive reviews from the viewers.

No one ever claimed that it was "anti-feminist," Erwin said, until the media's reviews emerged. "We heard over and over again ... moms love it," he said. "They said it was their story."

Although the media tried to ruin the credibility of the film, the low-budget movie grossed more than $4.3 million during its opening weekend. "Moms' Night Out" beat out "Amazing Spider-Man 2" according to the box office charts in the apples-to-apples comparison of revenue per screen.
