'Venom Carnage' Movie Release Date: Spiderman Spin-Off Will Premiere 2017

Sony Pictures has announced that the first wave of 'Spiderman' spin-offs will involve 'Venom Carnage' and release on the big screen sometime in 2017. While the film has yet to materialize beyond the projected launch date, fans are still excited to hear that one of their favorite Marvel Comics will eventually come to life at the cinema.

Spiderman's former alter-ego first made his big screen debut in Sam Raimi's 2007 'Spider-Man 3', starring Topher Grace. To this day, however, the 'Venom Carnage' producers have not yet disclosed any information on who the will be playing the black-suited villain in the forthcoming Marvel-Sony collaboration.

'Transformers' writer Alex Kurtzman will be directing and writing the villain-centered film along with three others, Todd McFarlane, David Micheline, and Ed Solomon. The film will be produced by a collaboration of three entertainment giants, Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

During Venom's first movie appearance as Spider Man's dark alter ego in 2007, the character only got to play a supporting villain role to Flint Marko aka Sandman (played by Thomas Haden Church), who was the film's main villain in charge of wrecking havoc in New York City.

In the film, Venom played a minor role in which he desperately tried to distract Spiderman from saving the world.

Now that the spotlight had been turned over to the masked villain, whose alter-ego is Daily Globe journalist Eddie Brock, the film's producers hope to entertain viewers by shedding a light on the character and showing the audience what amazing feats he's capable of.
