Game developer EA has just released the 'The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection' on its Origin client for free download. Users will be able to obtain the game at no charge at all after following a few simple steps.

Origin is EA's free online gaming client which allows gamers to purchase popular titles over the Internet. Much like Valve's Steam client, Origin also lets users download the games directly onto their computers.

Recently on EA announced that 'The Sims 2' would 'lose technical support' on July 22, being as the game would be retried. However, for players who owned a copy of the game legitimately, EA sympathized and rewarded them with the 'Ultimate Collection' version of the game. All copies of the game registered digitally through Origin would be eligible for an upgrade.

Since then, July 23, EA has made 'The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection' available to all for free

The following is a list of steps comes from game developer EA themselves and is good through July 31st, 2014 at 10AM PDT:

"Start by downloading and installing Origin. If you already have Origin you can skip to step 3.

1. Not an Origin member? Create a free Origin Account to get in the game.
2. Launch Origin and log into your Origin Account.
3. From the 'Games' tab in the Origin menu, select 'Redeem Product Code' and enter the code
   I-LOVE-THE-SIMS

If you're already an Origin member, you can also redeem your code online. Just visit the Origin code redemption page and log in to your Origin Account. Then enter I-LOVE-THE-SIMS in the 'Product Code' field.

Log into Origin and download and play the game any time you want .
