'Super Smash Bros. 4' for Wii U, 3DS Win People's Choice Award: Nintendo’s Title Is The ‘Favorite Video Game’

"Super Smash Bros." fans may now rejoice as the popular Nintendo video game has been recently received an accolade.

According to Nintendo Life, "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS received the People's Choice Award for "Favorite Video Game." It emerged as the fan-favorite game, among other video game nominees, including Mojang's "Warcraft," Activision's "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," and Rockstar's "Batman: Arkham Knight" and "Grand Theft Auto V."

"Super Smash Bros." was joined with "Candy Crush Saga" in the video game category, with the latter being recognized as the "Favorite Mobile Game."

The People's Choice Awards usually highlights celebrities, films, and television shows; however, the event has added video games to the recognition list in recent years, according to Christian Today.

As per the publication, a consistency in "Super Smash's" quality was a possible reason why the video game was recognized as fans' favorite video game, as opposed to "Batman: Arkham Knight." While the latter stands as one of the highest rated video games, it reportedly had several bugs when it first came out and in its re-release.

Following its release in September 2015, "Super Smash Bros.'" 3DS version managed to sell more than seven million game copies while the Wii U version had sold more than four million game copies, which means that both game versions' sales accounts to more than 11 million on a global scale.

"Super Smash Bros." stands as a "worthy contender" and winner of accolades for the time being, even the game was initially released in 2014, as per Nintendo Life. It was even a surprise for Nintendo to see a 2014 video game title receive an award in an event that recognizes works done in 2015.
