Former front woman for Sixpence None the Richer, Leigh Nash, will be back in the music scene again in 2006, due to the release of her first solo record.
"It's really wonderful to be able to put your whole self into something," Nash says. "As a band, creating new material is really a group effort; there is a certain lack of control one has as an artist. Now, I am able to take my experiences from the band and from life to make an album that is completely me, inside and out."
Since her singing career embarked at the young age of 15 with Sixpence None The Richer, Nash has matured into a woman—and a mother-- abundant with experiences and relationships, which has been garnered over the past thirteen years.
Nash has already experienced great success with Sixpence None The Richer.
Their smash hit single "Kiss Me" propelled the band into the spotlight, and their latest release Divine Discontent has kept the momentum going with songs like "Breathe Your Name" and a remake of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". Their success has garnered appearances on high profile television shows such as NBC's "The Today Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Saturday Night Live", CBS's "Late Night with David Letterman" and "Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," VH1's "Hard Rock Live," "Hallmark Caf" WB's "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and a main stage performance slot on the Lilith Fair Tour. Sixpence songs have also furbished countless movie and television soundtracks, including "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days,” "Freaky Friday,"A View From The Top", "She's All That," Here on Earth," Girl Interrupted," Snow Day," NBC's "ER" and the WB's "Smallville".
Nash’s voice could be heard in various projects, including "Need To Be Next To You" for the movie Bounce and collaborations with Los Straightjackets (2001’s Sing Along with Los Straitjackets) and Delerium (she penned and performed the song "Innocente (Falling in Love)" for 2001’s Poem, which was released as a radio single and rocketed up to ..3 on the Billboard Dance Charts).
