What a pitching matchup it will be. Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia will take the mound opposite to Athletics veteran Bartolo Colon.

For the Yankees it's been a crazy 2013 season with a hybrid lineup [due to injuries] that started really well, and then hit a rough patch for a few series. The Yankees have since bounced back with a 7-3 run in their last 10 games, sweeping the Inidans and taking 3 of 4 at Seattle against the Mariners. The sweep was a big confidence boost for the Yankees who normally struggle in west coast road teams.

Sabathia is 6-4 with a 3.74 ERA. In his last start he pitched a couple game, giving up 4 runs and 7 hits in a win against the Indians. As usual, the warmer the weather gets, the better C.C. Sabathia pitches.

Bartolo Colon, on the other hand, has begun Act 2 of his career with the Athletics. Posting better stats than Sabathia, Colon is 7-2 with a 3.14 ERA. Colon has only allowed 3 runs in his last 30 innings.

Both teams are in pursuit of the number one spot in their divisions. The Yankees are 1.5 games behind in the AL East, behind the Red Sox, while the Oakland Athletics are a half game out in the AL West.
