Xbox One vs. PS4: Microsoft Console Could Beat PlayStation 4 with 'Better Exclusive Games' and Kinect Relevance

In a recent AMA session on Yabbly, co-founder of the Xbox project, Ed Fries, revealed how he thought the Xbox One was going to overtake the PS4.

"They need better exclusive games than PS4," Fries said when asked how the company's sales could improve. "They need to be more open to indie developers. They need to adopt free-to-play gaming more aggressively. They need to continue to move Xbox Live forward as the leading online service. They need to show people why they included the new Kinect on every machine by demonstrating a compelling use for it."

The executive continued, and spoke on what he thought this generation of consoles was going to bring to the table. He believes the winner will come from the console who makes the best user experiences for their owners.

Speaking on Xbox's early reversals with some policies, he thought "the digital distribution/DRM thing could have been fine if they had just used Steam as their model, but they proposed something that wasn't like Steam and wasn't good for their customers. Then when people complained, they completely got rid of it instead of fixing it to be what people want. Hopefully now that they have more time they will fix that mess."

According to IGN, Microsoft suggested they may be bring back the digital sharing. "We believe in a digital future on our box," Xbox chief Phil Spencer said. "I know when I say this I always get beat up, but I think some of what we were trying to say last summer was right."

He continued, "We understand what games you own and who you are and how you move around and who you might want to loan rights to your games or gift your games to. We totally believe in that future. And any other marketplace you play in, these kind of mechanisms are out there."
