Well-known worship leader and now cancer survivor Darlene Zschech was overwhelmed by the amount of negative comments she received from Christians after performing at the Vatican this month and took to her blog to respond to her critics.

The blog entitled, Changes, started off with the singer gratefully talking about the amazing time she had while in Rome. She described that although she does turn down a lot of invitations to come and sing, she and her husband did pray about the 'Catholic charismatic renewal' event with the pope and felt God's peace about it.

She detailed that the purpose of the event was to bring Jesus followers from many different denominations together to pray for the world. Although Zschech felt a peace about it, apparently many of her followers on social media did not and openly condemned the former Hillsong singer.

"I must say I was completely taken by surprise at the harsh and downright mean comments from Christians who criticized my involvement in the event without any understanding, without any knowledge of why or how I got to be there. Or why I even felt it was important to be present," she wrote, "I was not there to judge, I was not there to become a Catholic, I was not there to sightsee. But I WAS there to lift up the name of Jesus.. without any hesitation or compromise.. for as I have learned over many years, that once Jesus is the center.. anything can happen."

Zschech a very positive, high-spirited, psalmist went on to defend her decision even stating that she was blessed by the event.

"So yes, I did meet Pope Francis. And yes, I did witness something truly miraculous a God, who is seeking us, is NOT defined or intimidated by denomination, liturgy, age or preferences... the TRUTH of our hearts toward Him is what He is after," she continued.

The "Victor's Crown" singer used scripture to back up her response and urged others to love and serve without prejudice. Not seemingly mad at all, she ended the blog and encouraged her followers to do as Jesus did, go and fulfill the great commission.

Upon reading Zschech's blog, BREATHEcast visited her Facebook page to see the social media persecution she was subjected to. Below are some of the harsh comments She received:

"Be wise Christians...we are in the last days...even the very elect will be deceived. be rooted in the word of God.," one wrote.

Another posted, "In your music i was blessed but what are you doing now to this man is not acceptable to the teaching of our Lord Jesus. Wake up....."

"Ecumenism is infiltrated in the Church. I apologize but I don't agree with ecumenism way because is the way to new order religion, babylon culture, etc. What god are you worshiping?" someone else added.

Many have labeled Zschech as a "pioneer of the modern worship movement." Her biggest song to date is, "Shout to the Lord" as it has become one of the most famous modern worship songs of all time being sang by an estimated 25-30 million churchgoers since the song's release.
