World War Z 2 Release Date: Premiere Date Expected to Be Summer 2015

When the production of Brad Pitt's World War Z began, it faced a host of problems which included several delays and a complete re-write of the third act. With all these issues, nobody expected that it would end up grossing $533 million dollars worldwide.

This helped Paramount Pictures green light the sequel which will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayono who is well known for directing The Orphanage and The Impossible, both of which won several awards.

Steven Knight, who has written several screenplays and scripts for movies and TV shows, such as Eastern Promises and The Detectives has been hired to pen the script for the sequel as of May 2014.

It will be interesting to see in how the storyline will develop; some believe there will be a re-surge of the eradicated zombies.

In a video chat with Variety, Brad Pitt says, "We're certainly talking about it, yeah. We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work. We have so many ideas and so much information, we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We're going to do our best and see what we get out of it."

A voice-over narration from Pitt's character in World War Z admits that the war against the zombies has just begun. So there is definitely a chance for additional films in the series.

The best case scenario for a release date would be the Summer of 2015, but Paramount Pictures has yet to confirm it.
