Windows 10 Anniversary Update Release Date: Internet Explorer 11 Usage Limited To Business Apps?

Along with the Windows 10 Anniversary update linking notifications from the smartphone to the desktop, it is also revealed that it will restrict usage of Internet Explorer 11 to entrepreneurial applications.

In a statement, Microsoft revealed that the Windows 10 Anniversary update introduced a new Internet Explorer group policy that limits the browser's usage exclusively to sites on the Enterprise Mode Site List. A case in point is sending all sites that are excluded in the Enterprise mode List to Microsoft Edge.

As per the company, all intranet site will continue to open in Internet Explorer 11 if the "Send all intranet sites to Internet explorer 11" Microsoft Edge group policy is enabled. Also, activating the aforementioned setting allows automated opening of sites that are excluded in the Enterprise Mode Site List in Microsoft Edge. Thus, it is advisable to use Microsoft Edge as one's default browser when the policy is enabled.

In other news, the Windows 10 Anniversary update has also brought notifications from the smartphone to the desktop, Express UK has learned. As per the publication, Windows users can now use the desktop to access, read, and respond to notifications from the Android smartphone.

The desktop and mobile integration feature also means that text messages, calls, and other app notifications from the phone are set to pop-up on the computer in just a few seconds. The said feature was announced by the tech giant at its annual developer conference, Build 2016, and it stands as the first time Windows 10 users become capable of using it.

Microsoft's Windows 10 Anniversary update is set to be launched this summer.
