HBO's 'Westworld' Cast News: Show Features Maeve’s Dreams, Backstory; James Marsden Hints Series’ Future

HBO's "Westworld" is set to feature Maeve's backstory in her dreams. Also, "X-Men" and "The Best of Me" actor James Marden unveiled details on what could happen to the series several years from now.

The studio has released a teaser clip for "Westworld." It opens with the character standing, which is followed by a scenic landscape. The next sequence sees her lying on the bed, with voice over saying that she is free in her dreams; she can be as good or as bad.

In a scene that shows Maeve and a man, the voice over adds that if she wants something, she can just reach out and take it. Furthermore, she says that once she was a little girl; now, she is in a different life. As she wakes up, she finds herself in a laboratory. She gets a sharp object and tries to threaten the scientists.

The clip concludes with a naked Maeve, saying that she cannot tell which is real; as she is brought to her knees on the floor, it appears that she is experiencing a hallucination.

In line with the series, "X-Men" and "The Best of Me" actor Marsden teased the future of the franchise. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marsden said that it had not been abot getting the first ten episodes done, but it had been about mapping out what the next five or six years were going to be.

"We wanted everything in line so that when the very last episode airs and we have our show finale, five or seven years down the line, we knew how it was going to end the first season," the actor said.

HBO's "Westworld" aired on Oct. 2.
