'The Walking Dead' Season 4 Spoilers: New Episodes Follow Comics "Verbatim" / David Morrissey Talks Governor Storyline / October 13 Premiere on AMC [TRAILER]

Though The Walking Dead TV series has strayed a little bit from the original comic books, executive producers say new plot lines are taken almost "verbatim" from the original story when Season 4 picks up in October.

The Hollywood Reporter sat down with Season 4 executive producer Greg Nicotero about the inspiration for the new episodes.

"It's really fascinating to make those slight departures, introduce new characters and then get to a situation where you take one episode and you really stick to the source material. You'll be surprised about the way the characters lay out."

While the Governor has been absent from all of the Season 4 trailers and teaser promos, rumor has it the Governor's evolution could resemble his more haggard comic book state.

David Morrissey, who plays the Governor, didn't reveal too many specifics regarding the Governor's appearance in Season 4, but did comment on the characters evolution since the epic Season 3 finale.

"He doesn't carry what happened at the end of season three very lightly. He was a man that recognizes a switch went off in his head and even though he's done terrible things, that ramped him up to somewhere else and he was out of control. That's a very worrying thing for him and that switch takes him into this dark place," explained the actor.
