‘Vikings' Season 3 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: Viking Warriors Set for ‘The Great Raid in Paris’ [VIDEO]

The 'Vikings' are looking at a whole new challenge when the show returns to the History Channel in the Summer of 2015. During a panel discussion at the Comic-Con 2014 in San Diego, series creator Michael Hirst teased that the Kattegat warriors are going to ransack and dominate Paris.

"Yeah, we're gonna attack Paris. Paris was the most extraordinary city. It was still a Roman city, and it was like nothing else on earth," Hirst confirmed to Collider. He added that the production is currently in the works of recreating Paris with the help of CGI. Hirst is also known as a writer and producer of critically-acclaimed historical series such as 'Camelot' (2011), 'The Tudors' (2007), and 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' (2007) among many others.

New characters will be joining 'Vikings' in its third season including Lothaire Bluteau as Emperor Charles of France, Jennie Jacques as Judith (mother of Alfred the Great), Morgane Polanski, who is going to play the Emperor's daughter named Princess Gisla.

In the previous season, Earl Ragnar Lothbrok was proclaimed the King of Denmark after slaying its former ruler Horik (Donal Logue). With the turn of events, Travis Fimmel's character and his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) are expected to send a fleet of 100 battle ships to raid the French capital.

Other interesting characters to join Season 3 are Harbard, who poses a significant value to Siggy, Aslaug, and Helga. Also, Shieldmaiden Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will be hiring Kalf to look over her kingdom while she is away with Ragnar.
