Ultimate Warrior's Wife Dana Hellwig on Death of Husband: 'I Wasn't to Win This Round, Heaven Won, I Lost'

Dana Hellwig (Warrior), the widow of The Ultimate Warrior has recently broke her silence regarding the untimely passing of her husband.

The Ultimate Warrior passed away on April 8, 2014 at the age of 54. Warrior died only one day after he entered a WWE ring for the first time since 1996. Dana Warrior reached out the fans of the late WWE HOF in order to share a heartfelt letter on WWE's website.

"It is with an absolutely broken heart I reach out to you. Since the passing of my husband, I have been fortunate enough to insulate my sweet girls and myself from the outside world. In this bubble we have grieved and continue to do so. For a week, I did not allow any television or media to seep through our cocoon. I was told, though, of the outpouring of love for my beloved husband and support for, as he always called us, his Warrior Girls. I can only say thank you," said Dana to the Warrior fans via WWE.com.

"To all the ULTIMATE WARRIOR fans: THANK YOU!! He told me when he shook the ropes it was him gathering strength from each of you. Warrior respected you and loved you as do the girls and I. I will reach out to the ropes for your strength to sustain me in the sad days that the girls and I face. UNWAVERING is what you've been. GRATEFUL is what we are."

Her husband was best known for his exciting entrance music, colorful interviews and beating Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI to unify the WWE (then WWF) Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario on April 1, 1990. After he left WWE for good after multiple stints (1987-91, 1992-1996), he reportedly had bad blood with Vince McMahon. He had a brief stint with WCW back in 1998.

Last year, Warrior appeared in WWE's 2K14 game commercial promoting that he will be in the new game for the first time in over a decade.

Warrior entered the WWE Hall of Fame as the main headline on April 5, 2014. On April 7, Warrior made his final appearance on Monday Night Raw when he thanked his fans for their support for at least two decades. The very next day, the Man from "Parts Unknown" passed away from heart disease when he was walking with his wife to their vehicle from a hotel in Arizona.

"I cannot put words to what that video tribute (on Monday Night Raw three days ago) meant. We watched it multiple times and, this morning, it was how I started my day; mornings are the hardest for me. I will treasure that song and those images more than anything I own. Vindication. ULTIMATE PERFECTION," said Dana to the WWE universe.

"My streak was broken April 8, 2014 when he collapsed. I fought and screamed and cried for him not to leave me, but I wasn't to win this round. Heaven won and I lost, but I had the ULTIMATE love for 20 years and my children learned to be Warriors from THE ULTIMATE DAD. I wouldn't trade a moment of the life we shared, good or bad, for anything on God's green earth... Streaks are broken but legends live forever. Always Believe."
