Christian commenters online are irritated that Woods decided to use Jesus name in that matter because in the Christian faith the name of Jesus is highly revered and Woods himself is not a Christian.

"Very sad to hear you @TigerWoods blaspheme my Lord Jesus Christ while playing golf at British Open. I am praying for you #pray" one wrote on Twiiter.

Another sarcastically added, "Tiger Woods is very spiritual on the golf course. Jesus Christ, God, & Dear Lord are used multiple times a round."

The professional golfer was raised a Buddhist by his mother, who is of Thai decent. During his rise to fame, Woods spoke openly about his faith, but admitted that he had drifted.

"I was raised a Buddhist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years," Woods admitted to CBS news after his adultery went public. He went on to say, "Buddhism teaches that a creation of things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught."
