"Thor 2: The Dark World" is currently filming with no clear sign of a release date yet, but a trailer for the film has hinted at Malekith as villain for this movie. Stuntman James Grogan revealed some spoilers about "Thor 2: The Dark World" and hinted at a Malekith as a potential villain. He revealed spoilers when he said, "The other day for example, this is quite random but I was working on Thor 2. I had a load of stunt guys in and the director came in and he said, 'Look, we want you all to be elves,' and I was like, 'What the hell is an elf anyway?' and he said 'I want you all to walk around like these supernatural animals,' honestly it was the most ridiculous thing ever but you just have to not be self aware and get on with it."

This spoilers indicates that the villain for "Thor 2: The Dark World" will be Malekith the Accursed, Ruler of the Dark Elves. In the comics, Malekith has attempted to take over Asgard several times so it is very possible that the movie will center on him.

Critics are concerned that "Thor 2: The Dark World" will be too involved with the "shared worlds" aspect of the Marvel series that it will not be a good enough stand alone film. Don Payne and Robert Rodat are the screenwriters for the film, who worked on "Thor" and "Saving Private Ryan" respectively, so there is great hope that they will be able to create a film that works with the Marvel world and is still a great stand-alone film.

Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in "Thor," gave an interview with Collider on his opinions of his character in "Thor 2: The Dark World." He said, "What's exciting about this film is that it depicts the aftermath of those events and you get to see the opinion of certain principle characters in Asgard. You get to see every character's perspective on what Loki did and they tend to be different and disparate and varying in tone and empathy, certainly. Now he's [Loki] back in Asgard a different being and therefore the chemistry he creates just by being back here is unpredictable and fantastic."
