'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers: New Plot Twists Emerge [TRAILER]

The latest trailer of 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 has just been released, about a month before the show's mid-season premiere scheduled for Feb. 8. The trailer of this the post-apocalyptic horror drama television series shows the group struggling to make its way through a thick, misty forest.

According to IBTimes, the puzzling direction in which the group is heading as well as the enemies shown in the video clip is an ideal allegory for the present direction of the characters in the show - they practically have nowhere to go now.

In the last episode, viewers saw that the group was unsuccessful in rescuing Beth (Emily Kinney) from the clutches of the Hospital crew. They were of the view that they would shortly be in Washington, D.C. where Eugene (Josh McDermitt) was expected to flip a few switches to treat the zombie apocalypse.

However, it is unfortunate that Eugene was extremely late in revealing to all that he was a fraud and had no ability whatsoever to saving the world. It was only after Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) nearly beat Eugene to death that the group in D.C. got together with the remaining members of the group to mourn Beth's loss. With the D.C. turning out to be a failure and none other to be rescued, the survivors are left with no real direction, but only one goal - to survive.

In fact, the threatening voiceover by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in the trailer makes the audience realize that the only option they have before them is to survive together. Nevertheless, viewers can expect to see more than the group just rambling aimlessly through the forest in the upcoming episode. Teasing about the remaining episodes of 'The Walking Dead' Season 5, show-runner Scott Gimple mentioned that the group would not be roaming aimlessly for too long.

Gimple said, "The back eight has a very interesting structure. There are some very emotional moments, there are some very crazy moments and there is a huge change for the situation of these characters."

Nevertheless, it is still not clear what the change would precisely be.

The remaining episodes of 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 will begin to premiere on Feb. 8 at 9 pm ET on AMC.
