For the second time this year, an artist debuts at no.1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart.

Sundance Head of gave his own rendition of "Me and Jesus" on the Nov. 28 episode of "The Voice." In 1972, the song was initially a no.8 hit on Hot Country Songs for Tom T. Hail.

Not so long after the episode, Sundance Head's version of the hit song sold an astounding 28,000 downloads in the tracking week which ended on Dec. 1. Nielsen Music also confirmed that the song is now the no.1 on Hot Christian Songs Sales, as well as on Christian Digital Songs Sales.

The son of 75-year-old Roy Head who charted 24 of his recordings on Hot Country Songs from 1974 to 1985, Sundance Head is currently competing for Team Blake on "The Voice" and is now one of the eight finalists.

On Jan. 2 this year, Jordan Smith's "Mary Did You Know" also crowned the Hot Christian Songs upon its debut. Since then, Sundance Head is the only one who has debuted at no.1, according to the report.

Jordan Smith was the champion of "The Voice" season 9. He debuted at the Hot Christian Songs summit with two additional performances from "The Voice" season 9, "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "Hallelujah." Another artist from season 9, Braiden Sunshine, also debuted at no. 1 on Hot Christian Songs with his version of "Amazing Grace" on the chart dated Dec. 26.

In other news, Lauren Daigle charted two titles in the top three of Top Christian Albums. She was the only artist who managed to chart two of the top three on Top Christian Albums in a week since the Nov. 28, 2015 chart, when Chris Tomlin's "Adore: Christmas Songs of Worship" and "Love Ran Red" ranked no.1 and no.3, respectively.
