'The Newsroom' Season 3 Spoilers, New Cast, Release Date: FBI Raids ACN, Station Shutdown?

HBO's 'The Newsroom' will premiere its third and final season Nov. 9 showing the Atlantis Cable News channel facing the FBI and opening up the possibility of losing the show once and for all.

The synopsis for the premiere episode of the new six-episode season revealed that fans will see Will and Mac, played by Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer respectively, along with the ACN channel team, back in action as they face more trouble following the Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013.

Will and the ACN team are still dealing with the aftermath of the Operation Genoa scandal that almost sunk the station back in the show's second season. The incident made them more cautious and slower in reporting the current Boston bombing, making the team the last to broadcast many major news developments. It results in the station coming in last place in network ratings, which frustrates Will and jeopardizes the ACN.

Things also get worse for the station as it is raided by the FBI. Neal, played by Dev Patel, gets himself and the station in trouble after he "is sent leaked government documents proving riots in Kundun were sparked by falsified press stories." The situation escalates to the point that the ACN newsroom and its staff are detained and questioned by the FBI.

The ACN team also faces the possibility of a hostile takeover of the company, which threatens the continued operation of the news channel and the continued employment of its reporters and staff.

'The Newsoom' adds new faces in its third season with B.J. Novak from 'The Office' as Lucas Pruit, who is spearheading the takeover of ACN; Kat Dennings from '2 Broke Girls' as Blair Lansing, the half-sister of one of the ACN reporters; Joanna Gleeson from 'Sensitive Skin' as Nancy, the wife of Charlie Skinner, ACN's president; and Mary McCormack from 'The West Wing' as Molly, an FBI agent.

'The Newsroom' airs at 9 pm on Nov. 8 on HBO.
