"The Mindy Project" has experienced several drastic changes throughout the seasons. It premiered in 2012 on Fox, but was bought by Hulu in 2015 after getting cancelled by the former. Despite the move to another network, the show still maintained its original feel and plot. However, the show suddenly began to look extremely different when main character, Danny, played by actor Chris Messina, started to show up less and less frequently this season.

Several news sources have already confirmed that Messina will cease to be a series regular in the Hulu Show "The Mindy Project." Does this mean that Mindy and Danny will officially be over when the show returns for the fifth season?

TV Line reports that while fans will not be able to see more of Messina, he will nonetheless be a recurring guest star on the next season to maintain a relationship of sorts with Mindy. The move from regular to recurring is a huge downgrade for the actor. Moreover, despite still slightly existing on the show, the news is still disheartening for fans of the Mindy-Danny love team.

Mindy and Danny have always been the central couple in show, and they even have child. However, we have all witnessed how the couple broke off their engagement during the mid-season premiere. While fans had still been in denial from the turn of events, it sure looks like things started to go downhill from there.

It is not as if nobody saw it coming. Danny was noticeably absent through the general portion of the current season. He is still being mentioned regularly, but not seen as much.

As mentioned by movienewsguide.com, this was not the first time that there was a major character change in the series. Several actors and actresses have come and gone throughout the duration of the show. What this will mean for Mindy, the fans have yet to find out next season.
