'The Bible' Mini-series on History Channel: With Ratings Comes Scandals

The Bible Mini-series on History Channel has been watched by over 70 million viewers total, making it the most popular show on television. But as any high school graduate knows, with popularity comes scandal.

First it was the blood and gore that was too graphic for kids, now The Bible series has been accused of casting a Barack Obama look alike as Satan.

With the arrival of Jesus in The Bible series, we can expect to see Obama-Satan more and more leading up to the Crucifixion finale on Easter Sunday. So instead of ignoring the issue, let's face it head on. Yes, the actor casted as Satan (Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni) does resemble the President. Do I think mogul producing duo Mark Burnett and Roma Downey did that on purpose? No. The creator of Survivor the Touched By An Angel star chalk up the speculation as "utter nonsense."

"Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of the Bible," according to a statement from Downey.

The Internet's been buzzing ever since episode 3. Even former FOX News show host Glenn Beck got into the action.

"Anyone else think the Devil in ?The Bible Sunday on History Channel looks exactly like That Guy?" Beck tweeted along with a picture of Ouazanni in costume.

Addressing the issue, History Channel released this statement:

"History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History's 'The Bible' is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history," the network said Monday following the episode.

The Bible, the five-part miniseries, which has two episodes left, airs Sunday nights at 8/7c on the History Channel.
