‘The Bible’ Miniseries on History Channel: Actor Who Plays Jesus Calls Obama-Satan Controversy “Hilarious”

Although History Channel probably didn't find the President Obama-Satan comparisons very funny, The Bible star who plays Jesus on the epic new miniseries, Diogo Morgado, finds the situation "hilarious."

"I don't think that's controversial at all, I think that's so funny," Diogo Morgado told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's just funny."

Good to know the actor playing Jesus on The Bible has a sense of irony.

Morgado praises Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni and chalks up the controversy to nothing more than a sensational 24/7 news media.

Ouazanni, who plays the devil in The Bible, "did a nice job and it was awesome and never -- not even for one second -- were we even thinking about that, so I think it's hilarious," said Morgado. "At the same time, I think it's just a sign of how successful the show is" because people are paying attention to "silly things."

Former FOX News talk show host Glenn Beck was among the first to notice the resemblance between Ouazanni's Satan and our nation's 44th President. Beck, like most "silly" people went to Twitter to spark the polarizing controversy.

History Channel released this statement regarding the Obama-Satan controversy.

"History channel has the highest respect for President Obama," the network said last Monday. "History's The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history."

With The Bible miniseries finale this Sunday, viewers can expect to see more of Satan. The final episode features the Crucifixion and Resurrection scenes.

Will the controversy take a turn for the worst or do most agree with Morgado?

Tune in to The Bible, History Channel's 5-part miniseries, which has one episode left, Easter Sunday at 8/7c.
