Tenth Avenue North Look to Unify Christians with 'Cathedrals' Regardless if They Want to Hear it or Not – K-LOVE Fan Awards 2015 [INTERVIEW]

BREATHEcast met up with Tenth Avenue North at the red carpet of the K-LOVE Fan Award 2015, singer Mike Donehey had a lot to say regarding the unity of Christians and the way their music looks to help this along.

The band was nominated for two K-LOVE Awards, Group/Duo of the Year and Best Live Show. Donehey predicted for King & Country would be the victors for Best Live Show, and he was right, "They use lasers and explosions, lots of drums and stuff, so that's pretty exciting." He was hopeful that they could win the Group/Duo award, but the Smallbone brothers took that one as well.

While talking about their album Cathedrals, Donehey commented on the message of the album in being challenging to Christians to sometimes digest.

"It's been a little tough in that, I think sometimes people want their songs to just be me and Jesus, and it's kind of a bit of tension like, 'Oh, oh, them two, this is getting kind of awkward.' But we're not gonna ever stop," the singer said. "That's our song, 'Losing From the Struggle' is about the same thing. We gotta forgive each other, we gotta embrace one another, and it's hard and difficult, so we're loving the tension, it's a beautiful place to be."

From there he spoke about the doubts many bands go through in trying to make everyone happy. Donehey admits that sometimes the music just can't please everyone.

"I think more than ever we are starting to lose the worry about trying to be everything for everyone...just realizing there are certain people that are going to connect with these songs, lets just play for them and try to lift the burdens of as many people as we can," he shared.
