Taylor swift will be making a jump from stage to screen as the music starlet has agreed to a supporting role in the upcoming movie The Giver. This comes as great timing as Swift just finished up her wildly successful 'Red Tour'.

The will be alongside a starring cast of Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. Other cast includes Brenton Thwaites, Katie Holmes, Alexander Skarsgard and Cameron Monaghan.

Swift's role in the movie is officially uncertain, however reports are that Swift will play Rosemary, the last teen mentored by The Giver before Thwaites' character.

It will be Taylor Swift's biggest supporting role in a movie to date. Her other big-screen credits were from Valentine's Day (2010) and being the voice of Audrey in The Lorax (2012)

The Giver will be 'based on Lois Lowry's 1993 young adult novel about a boy's progressive disillusionment with his futuristic, seemingly utopian society' announced The Weinstein Company.

Plotline:

In a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world.

Production on "The Giver" will begin on October 7 in Cape Town, South Africa with director of Phillip Noyce (Salt, Dead Calm).

The Giver is set to hit theaters on August 15, 2014.
