Square Register App Release Date in Australia: New Apple & Android Software Boosts Small Business

Square, Inc. has formally released their Square Register app in Australia, which is being primed as a replacement for the average, everyday, cash register, Business IT reported.

Square Register is a free Apple and Android app that utilizes a cloud service to provide users with digital receipts and accepts credit card payments. It allows users to take inventory, order products online, and tip for services.

It also works with QuickBooks, Xero, cash drawers, receipt printers and barcode scanners.

A chip and PIN version of the app is also expected to arrive sometime in 2015, most likely in autumn. However, interested consumers can avail an iPad stand that comes with a built-in credit card reader and a swivel base for $99.

Australian native Michael Chaeng was among those who took to the Square Register, according to Business IT. The owner of Perth bar Frisk said that he came upon the app while searching for point of sale solutions and chose the Square Register for its clean design, simple layout, and the quick way it processes transactions.

Square Register is "the pocket-size point of sale that powers your whole business," according to its official website.

The app itself is free, save for payments made during transactions. It processes cash and checks and also credit card payments via Visa, Discover, MasterCard and American Express. It also works in Offline mode, allows users to change prices, names or quantities of their products with the touch of a button, track the items in stock and be notified when supplies are running low.

The Square Register app has been particularly useful in Australian businesses so far, according to Style Icons.

Dennis Tang, the owner of a small business, said Square Register was particularly helpful when they registered their sales because they did not have to rely and invest on any sort of equipment, expect for a phone.

"Our Register empowers sellers to drill into their businesses with sophisticated reporting tools to run and grow their business," the CEO of Square Jack Dorsey said, according to Style Icons.
